Club Fair 2024-2025
NR, Aspen Mueller, D23
The club fair went really well, normally people only join Key Club because past presidents promote as one big Six Flags trip but we decided to promote it more as a service club in order to get members to join for the purpose of service! It definitely went surprisingly good, the day before we had our advisory get candy’s and made a small spirit stick, poster board photo ops and had some official key club props to attract members. We had a TON of members join and are so so excited for the rest of this term with our new members!
Chinatown StreetFest
IL, Oakland Technical, D02N
An interclub between multiple clubs in our division and outside along with other service organizations such as Interact and AYSC. This event took place on August 24th and 25th, 2024, in Oakland’s Chinatown. I got to help with selling T-shirts for one of the sponsors of the festival other than that there were tasks such as basketball and selling goldfish and a few other things. However a negative would be that I saw how there was a lack of jobs and some key clubbers having nothing to do the entire day. Overall, it was fun, especially seeing the performances on the stage in the plaza, a bonus was seeing some of my friends performing. Plus the free boba after the event was over made it even better.
Community Brunch
CT, Gregori, D46N
Community Brunch is where people get together and have brunch made by local chefs, partnering with local charities while having a chance to win prizes from raffles. I volunteered under the charity Society for Disabilities. It went really well- the first day I helped set up decorations like trees and chairs. The second day, I helped serve brunch (crepes and fruit toppings) to people and clean up after the event. I liked meeting people from other schools in the community, but overall my favorite moment was hanging out with my friends during the event.
Kingsburg Recruitment
KG, Kingsburg, D05S
This last month, the Kingsburg High School Key Club worked hard to recruit new members, and continue the community role of our returning members. On August 23rd, we handed out over 200 flyers for Key Club at our Club Rush! The next week, we held a meeting for new members and were excited by the amazing turnout of interested students. At lunch on August 27th, our officers ran the first meeting of this school year. We are so grateful to Kingsburg Kiwanis for helping host September’s DCM at KHS on September 4th. We loved getting to spend time with members from schools in our division, and were glad to help make some ribbon leis for RTC. On September 5th, we began preparations for our Washington Elementary Tutoring program. KHS Key Club is excited to start this year of service!
St. Jude's Children's Walk
JS, Faith Lutheran, D28S
The St. Jude Walk/Run was a great demonstration of the positive effects showing up has for a cause and for a community. During our time at the St. Jude Run for Key Club, we spent our time cheering on the participants who showed up to support and donate to St. Jude’s children’s cancer research. Because Key Club members were assigned to the job of cheering on the runners upon their arrival and throughout the course, we were given pom-poms and rattles to boost the spirit and enthusiasm of St. Jude’s mission. Throughout the run, Key Clubbers did their best to make the families and friends connected to the St. Jude mission feel supported and loved.
