Football Game
AB, Centennial, D28W
I had a really fun time with helping out KC! I got to meet a lot of new people and make small talk with other students. It was really exciting talking and guiding people to our booth and letting them know about what we were doing. It also let me go out of my comfort zone by going around with our posters and talking to the families there. Overall it was a fun experience and I'm excited for the next games to come!
Club Rush
DV, Oxnard, D42W
On Friday, August 16th, Oxnard High School held its club rush where Oxnard Key Club was able to have a booth and encourage students to join Key Club. Our amazing cabinet members helped run the booth, convincing students to join our club! The club rush was a huge success as we had a total of over 130 Key Clubers sign up! Members were intrigued by the fact that we attend Six Flags along with our division. Students also showed excitement as most of our service events that we help out at give free snacks and food to our amazing Key Clubbers! We are so excited for the new school year as the hopes for having successful term are high!
Conquer the Bridge
SM, CAMS, D19N
For the Bib pickup service event, there was 1 shift on Saturday, August 30th, and the 2nd shift was on Sunday, August 31st. The volunteer members were assigned to hand out and sign in the runners who were going to participate in the Conquer the Bridge marathon on Labor Day. There were a total of 8 members per shift and this volunteer service event provided an opportunity to socialize with many people. It was a good experience seeing all different types of age groups participate in the marathon. The person in charge of the event, Derrick, was also very nice and it was very fun to work with him.
Monopolympics DCM
JR, Mayfair, D13N
What is swinging green monkeys! My name is Eiryl Aquino, and I proudly serve as Mayfair Key Club’s secretary for the ‘24-‘25 term! On August 10th, Region 8 held a Monopolympics DCM at Heartwell Park. The event kicked off with a bunch of icebreakers to get the divisions familiarized with each other! Many clubs also sold food and beverages like Tanghulu, Thai tea, and Portos! Lastly, the Monopolympics began and teams were made to compete against each other! Games like hula hoop pass, catch the dragon’s tail, and tug of war were played. In the end, many people had fun competing and getting to know other people from different divisions! My favorite part of this DCM was the Monopolympic games because it was cool meeting new people and working together to win! That’s about it for the DCM, and I look forward to future division and region events!
John F. Kennedy Club Rush
X.C., Kennedy, D30S
On August 29th and 30th, Kennedy hosted an event where clubs around the campus could advertise their community and rally students to join their clubs. This is called “Club Rush!” Key Club gathered their customized boards and spirit supplies from Fall Rally South to engage the students and persuade them to join the club. The event took place during lunch and was a huge success, as many students quickly met up and formed a line for the brightly shining booth.
Students from freshmen to seniors asked various questions and were intrigued by the colorful nature of Key Club and the loud advocating members. The spirit coordinators and the officers took many photos and encouraged students to join Key Club. The three factors that truly won the students' hearts were service hours, Fall Rally South (Six Flags), and the lovely community. The booth and members outshined the other clubs in a lighthearted manner.
Additionally, Key Club rewarded those who joined with proof, such as a picture of them completing the form, with a delightful and delicious Otter Pop. This method proved to be very successful due to the combination of hot, sunny days and the refreshments provided by the Otter Pops. As proof of Key Club’s successful booth advertisement, a variety of pictures were taken with the iconic spirit stick and yellow embroidered sign. Lovely smiles and an uplifting atmosphere were carried along by the old and new members alike. As the event progressed, Key Club’s enthusiasm only grew stronger, making the booth a hub of excitement and energy that was hard to miss.
The spirit coordinators, decked out in club apparel and armed with an infectious positive attitude, led chants and cheered on prospective members, drawing even more attention to the booth. Officers were actively engaged, answering questions, sharing their experiences, and highlighting the benefits of joining Key Club.
The club’s emphasis on community service resonated deeply with many students who were eager to make a difference, earn service hours, and participate in impactful projects.
