Panera Bread Fundraiser
JR, Artesia, D13N
On May 27, one of my school’s club presidents was craving something crispy on our Monday afternoon. That’s when we realized that our very own Division 13 North was having an ongoing fundraiser at Panera Bread, not far from the location that we were at. Therefore, we decided to help support the Division by having our lunch at Panera. This specific fundraiser was offered at the Cerritos location, which is across from the Cerritos mall. We decided to get a Bacon and Swiss sandwich, which was absolutely astounding. It also came with apple slices, making the meal super appetizing and delicious.
Slime Making DCM
ER, Spanish Springs, D23
At the June DCM we went over Division events and updates, as well as recognition for Club, Kiwanis Advisor, Faculty Advisor, Officer, and Member Of The Month; following with finishing up painting benches. After that we set up a slime station and made some really cool Yeti Slime!! I had some trouble with making my batch a few times but it was really fun!
Kiwanis Information Booth
KG, Kingsburg, D05S
Throughout June, Kingsburg High School Key Club officers volunteered at the Kiwanis Club of Kingsburg informational booth. This booth was located at the Memorial Park in Kingsburg, during the Kingsburg City Band summer concerts. These concerts have become a tradition in Kingsburg, and vendors, as well as information booths, are set up in the park before the concert. The Kiwanis booth educated people in our community about the mission and goals of the club. It also highlighted the projects and involvement of the KHS Key Club in our community. The Key Club officers who volunteered were able to talk to citizens of Kingsburg and worked to sell tickets to Kingsburg Kiwanis’ dinner fundraiser later this month. The Kingsburg High School Key Club members are also working on their volunteer hours this summer, volunteering their time to Vacation Bible Schools, sports camps, and more.
Garden Service
NS, Westmont, D12W
On June 17th, our club had a day of service in the garden behind Room 60 at Westmont High School. During the event, we set up a raised garden bed, added soil, and planted four desert king watermelon seedlings. There were six Westmont students who participated in the event. Furthermore, we also trimmed and took care of our other raised garden bed, which grows several fruits and vegetables such as bell peppers and kale. The best part of the event was placing the seedlings into the soil, because we were all excited to watch the plants grow as we took care of them. We also developed a watering schedule to ensure that each garden bed would be watered once a day during the summer.
