Summer Camp Volunteering
AS, Damonte Ranch, D23
Working along side Michael, founder of Generation Elev8 has truly been a memorable experience. Camp counseling over summer with Elev8 has been one of my favorite volunteering experiences, seeing the confidence boost in these kids within the course of 4 days truly shows how Michales positive energy rubs off on people. Not only have these kids grown more confident within themselves but the endless laughs and smiles light up the room and remind us all what it’s like to be young and careless like we once were. My favorite part of being a counselor was when my group of girls would line up to say their goodbyes and give what they call “goodbye hugs”.
July Parade
OM, Verdugo Hills, D03N
The McGroarty Arts Center event allowed me the opportunity to assist the center while interacting with those in my community. Before the event began, we were given instructions about what we would be assisting with. Throughout the Fourth of July Parade that is hosted every year in our city, we would be handing out flyers to promote summer programs offered by the arts center. As the parade took off, I was quick to begin handing out flyers to families, which was the specific task I was given. After handing every person or child a flyer, I would offer them a few pieces of candy, and it was amazing to see people’s faces light up when I asked. Although it was relatively hot, I was distracted by trying to give flyers to anyone I was able to hand to. Regardless, the event gave me another opportunity to serve my community.
El Camino Club Bonding

This July, Taft Key Club held a bonding session to introduce the board members to each other as well as create ideas for the upcoming year. At this bonding, there were many events, such as musical chairs, and some card games. musical chairs, especially got very competitive and ended up with our vice president Vivian winning. This bonding helped us get closer as a board and ensure that we have a successful year for the 2025 to 2026 season. This bonding was also disco themed therefore we had disco balls and colorful lights to match. to go along with the theme board members and other key club members who attended dressed in disco fashion. Vice president Shantina provided food and drinks for all members to enjoy. Examples of food and drinks that we had were boba tea, pasta, and sandwiches. Thanks to this bonding Taft Key Club was able to come together and create an uplifting environment for the upcoming year!!
D24E June DCM
ES, Westlake, D42E
This service event occurred at the North Creek Park in Thousand Oaks on June 22nd. One of the service projects you could do was make pipe cleaner flowers that would go out to the senior living or make hair ties that would go into a foster care box for the children who lost everything. While attending this event I noticed that there weren’t as many members as I would have liked. In total, there were about 11-13 members but many of them were from the same school making it where there weren’t many members from different schools attending. While there weren’t many of us we were able to make a lot of flowers. This service project was able to help our community by putting a smile on the senior living faces because many of them don’t receive gifts. From my personal experience, I really enjoyed this service project and I would like it if my Club did it more often.
Officer Training
RS, Redlands, D36E
Despite it being the summertime, Key Club continues to demonstrate determination when it comes to helping and building our community! Firstly, the month of June introduced our first Officer Training Conference, aka OTC, of our upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Office members were invited to attend OTC to bond with others within our district and get further information on how each position runs and their responsibilities! Secondly, July brought on the annual Strawberry Festival held by Redlands Kiwanis. This provided an excellent community service event for Key Club members to participate in. At this event, members aided in the different activity stations as well as aided the elderly in traveling from station to station! Regardless of these responsibilities, Key Club members were also able to enjoy their time at the event and spend time bonding with other members!
