Color A Smile and Bean Bean Bean
ML, Los Alamitos, D30S
As of previous years, Color A Smile and Bean Bean Bean have always been successful, but it has shown significant growth as of recently. This has especially been the case as of the past few months. Throughout the months of May and June, Color A Smile and Bean Bean Bean have soared to become the most popular service activities within Los Alamitos Key Club. It even brought attention to other students at Los Alamitos High, who were not already familiar with Key Club, and led them to become interested in what the club has to offer. Thus, it led to six students, all new to Key Club, to participate in Color A Smile along with the other members. As people are more appealed to the idea of easy community service hours, hopefully this brings in more members for the upcoming term. As for the current members, Color A Smile and Bean Bean Bean has granted them the opportunity to engage in community service acts during their free time at home. While many members are unable to drive long distances, especially since Los Alamitos is far from the division, they are still able to participate in the club even if they are unable to make it to certain events. Additionally, they have gone above and beyond to make the club become more active since the past few terms with each of them doing 20 pages of Color a Smile and 8 hours of Bean Bean Bean. Some even went beyond this amount, which shows the dedication of Los Alamitos Key Club’s members.
OTC
MU, Woodbridge, D04C
Held on June 22nd at Arnold O. Beckman High School, the 2025 Region 3 Officer Training Conference: Pokémon GO-TC Edition was such an amazing experience for all clubs in Division 04 Central. The event had a great turnout of officers who came ready to learn, connect, and grow. We started the day with fun and welcoming icebreakers that helped everyone bond and feel more comfortable. The highlight of the day was attending the workshop sessions, where we explored our officer roles and picked up valuable skills in areas like public speaking, club relations, stress management, and more. From cheering in the performing arts center to collecting stickers throughout the day during the sessions, OTC gave us the tools and confidence to grow as leaders and was the perfect way to start off the new term. We left feeling inspired, connected, and ready to take on the year ahead with passion and teamwork.
Dads Read
CL, Marina, D43
On July 12th, Marina Key Club helped out the Marina Library with their Saturday Dad’s Read in which the members helped set up tables with clothes that were donated, the kids play area, and helped out passing out food with the Monterey Food Bank. “I love helping out with the dads read every other Saturday. It is definitely my favorite type of event to do and host in key-club”- Jasen Kolone, Marina High Key-Club President. “This was so much fun and the fact that they had goats at the event made it a fun time” - Isabella Zyrene Ortman, Marina High Key-Club Member.
Los Altos Pet Parade
JS, Homestead, D34S
The annual Kiwanis Los Altos Pet Parade is a fantastic opportunity for any Key Clubber who loves service and animals! From passing out stylish ribbons to cheering on parade participants, this volunteer event is packed with fun, fulfilling activities. My fellow Key Clubbers and I met several dogs of various breeds, a pig, a cat in a stroller, and even a bearded dragon! I highly recommend this event to any future Key Clubbers, I can assure you that you'll have loads of service-filled fun!
