Camp-A-Palooza
Jl, Ap, Temple City, D10N
On July 29th 2022, Temple City Key Members helped the Temple City Parks and Recreation staff at their Annual Camp-A-Palooza, an outdoor campout for friends and family featuring a variety of different activities such as movies, arcade , and arts and crafts. From 12pm-9pm, Temple City Key Club volunteered to help the check in stand, assist campers with setting up their tents, monitoring the jumper area, and arts and crafts. This year, Camp-a-Palooza’s theme was Super Mario! Volunteers assisted in putting up star shaped balloons, ‘Boos’, and ‘Bob-ombs’ balloons across the campsite. We put up Mystery blocks around the Arcade area all inspired by the infamous game, Super Mario! Afterward, campers began to arrive, and we were called to help set up their tents. Despite our lack of experience in setting up tents, with our determination and teamwork, we were able to help all campers get their tents up safely and properly. Though the weather was not on our side that day, together, we shared laughs paired with delicious burgers provided by the staff at the end of our shifts! Before leaving we snapped a picture in front of the Camp-A-Palooza sign. This service project was a great opportunity to connect with the rest of our community and it was very fun overall! We hope to be back again next year! p style="text-align: left;">To be able to serve and be more involved within the community, Key Clubbers from Division 10 North had the opportunity to help out at Camp A Palooza. Camp A Palooza is Temple City’s unique experience in which families’ have an overnight camping adventure at Live Oak Park. This year had a Super Mario themed experience in which families brought their own tents and sleeping bags and provided arts and crafts, inflatable obstacle courses, an outdoor movie, dinner from Nexx Burger, a continental breakfast, and more! From Friday, July 29 to Saturday, July 30th, Key Clubbers were given a variety of opportunities in which events and areas they wanted to help with either in supervising or setting up. It included experiences with helping food trucks, arts and crafts, supervising jumpers, cleaning and setting up, arcade/games area, and outdoor movie setup. Throughout the camp out we bonded with community members and with one another in various stations. From 12-9 pm on July 29, we got there early to help set up the campout including camp posts, tents, activities, jumpers, decorating the park, creating decorations, and lifting and carrying many activities from place to place. Once the people started coming in to set up their own areas with tents and sleeping bags at 2:30 pm and attractions opening up at 4 pm, we were able to interact with all kinds of people. It was a lot of fun not only interacting with children, parents, and others from the community, but also watching everyone have a great time. Kids ran around the park and participated in the variety of activities set up from jumpers to arts and crafts tables, to arcade games. The community had also hosted a giant scavenger hunt in which many kids and adults participated with the winner receiving a Yogurtland gift card. At the arts and crafts table, kids and parents included, were able to paint, decorate a hat, and/or make a windmill. At around 8:30 there was a huge blown-up projector in which campers were provided popcorn and cotton candy as they watched “Sonic.” Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that spent their afternoon helping out! We hope you had a wonderful time volunteering and socializing with Key Clubbers and the community!
Redlands Bowl Bench Painting
CY, Redlands, D36E
In the month of July, the Redlands Key club had the opportunity to contribute at the Redlands Bowl bench painting event on July 20th. Here, we had the chance to bond with fellow key club members from different high schools and paint the benches. On the same day, we also had the July DCM clean and sing. Some other opportunities the Redlands Keyclub had during the month of June were the Redlands Bowl Ushering and the Miracle Treat Day on the 28th. This month was eventful and enjoyable for the Redlands Key club as we got to bond with the other key clubs and give back to our community through our service.

On August 4th Rancho held its Freshman Orientation. We got to meet many of the incoming Freshmen and introduce them to our club! We had a booth in which they could come up and check out Rancho’s Key Club. Many of them had signed our sheet which showed how many people were interested in joining. Also, our first interest meeting is set to be held on the 22nd of this month! We can’t wait to see everyone there.
Officer Training Conference
KE, University Preparatory, D38E
My experience at the Officer Training Conference (OTC) was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed all the information given and I was well informed on the workshops that were presented. The slides were also very detailed and visually pleasing. I was able to learn various things about Key Club and officer duties. It was also nice to see all the officers in the division and to finally get to know each other better. I believe it helped strengthen bonds within the division and provided a foundation for club officers to use for the new school year. I highly recommend everyone who is a part of Key Club to attend an Officer Training Conference.
